The Week in Review

John McCain had is 3rd consecutive week of large gains in the state polls. All while Sen. Obama showed gains in both the Gallup and Rasmussen tracking polls. As I indicated in my post from several weeks ago, statewide polls generally tend to lag behind national polls.
Sen. McCain gained 38 electoral votes in Missouri and Florida this week, as well as moving Wisconsin from safely Obama to leaning Obama. Right now it would appear that the key to the election could be Colorado.
As it stands right now, Sen. McCain has 224 electoral votes in my projection. If he were to win all of the current toss-up states (Nevada, North Dakota, Ohio and Virginia) he would get to 265. Of the 4 barely Obama states Colorado is currently the closest (at 3.50%), followedy New Hampshire (4.04%), New Mexico (4.34%) and Michigan (4.72%). New Hampshire by itself would only give Sen. McCain an electoral tie.
