Map & Trend

7/9: After a 4 day holiday hiatus, 5 new polls were released in 4 states (Alabama, Kansas Missouri and New Jersey). No states change for the 13th consecutive day today, but Kansas, Missouri and New Jersey all swung slightly in John McCain's favor. This is consistent with what I have mentioned in posts on previous days.

7/9: After a rough week for the McCain campaign last week, it appears they are starting to turn the corner. Today marks the first significant gain in popular vote since June 21st. His net pick-up of 66,000 votes barely trims the projected lead of 6.1 million. It appears the new campaign staff has got him on message and it's working. It remains to be seen if developments early this week on the war in Iraq changes things at all, but we should see pretty quickly in the coming days.
