9/13: 2 new polls today in South Dakota and Nevada resulting in 1 change on the map. In South Dakota, a new Rasmussen poll shows Sen. McCain has regained a commanding lead. South Dakota is moved to safely McCain. No real changes today, but the electoral math has gotten interesting. Sen. McCain is now only required to win Ohio and Virginia (which he currently leads), after that he can win any 2 of Nevada, Colorado and New Mexico. While this still means he must win 4 of the 5 toss-up states, it changes the dynamic of the election. Sen. McCain has spent a considerable amount of time in states like Michigan and Pennsylvania, where Sen. Obama currently has small leads. This is causing Sen. Obama to have to defend those states rather than try to go out and win states the John Kerry couldn't carry (particularly in the west) that are likely required for Sen. Obama to win.
