9/24: 23 new polls in 18 states today. 3 changes on the map and 1 in the electoral count. First, Ohio moves out of toss-up status and back to barely McCain as his lead shifts back over 2 points. Ironically, this is based on a poll that shows a tie. This is because a previous Quinnipiac poll which showed Sen. Obama ahead by 5. It may shift back however, because the oldest polls in the Ohio projection now lean toward Sen. McCain more than recent polling has. In addition, there were two shifts in color on the map, both toward Sen. Obama. Washington is moved from barely to leaning Obama after a new Survey USA poll shows him ahead by 11. In West Virginia, a new CNN/Time poll shows Sen. McCain ahead by only 4. This cuts into his lead significantly enough that West Virginia is moved from safe to leaning McCain. For the day, Sen. Obama gains 326,000 net votes and more than 1 million in the last 4 days. His popular vote lead is now the largest it has been in about 2 weeks.
