9/26: Only 7 new polls yesterday, in preparation for the debate tonight, and will likely be slow over the weekend as pollsters try to gauge the results over the debate before exploing with polls by Monday or Tuesday of next week.
There were 2 changes on the map today as Florida is moved from barely McCain to toss-up after a new Rasmussen poll shows Sen. McCain ahead by only 1. Florida has clearly been tightening over the last couple of weeks and only Rasmussen and Survey USA had had polls that showed significant leads for Sen. McCain. As I said in my post yesterday, a similar pattern is emerging in Ohio.
The race may also be tightening in Missouri, as 2 new polls show leads for Sen. McCain of only 1 & 2 points. One more result showing the race that close will likely move Missouri into the toss-up column as well.
In Oregon, a new Research 2000 poll shows Sen. Obama ahead by 14. This is enough to move Oregon from leaning to safely Obama.
On one final note, a new Rasmussen poll in Virginia shows Sen. Obama ahead by 5. This puts Sen. Obama ahead in 3 of the last 4 polls there and although Virginia remains a toss-up, Sen. Obama has regained the lead there for the first time in a month. As a result, without toss-ups my new electoral total would be 286-252 in favor of Sen. Obama.
