9/27: 2 new polls both show Sen. Obama wit leads between 8 and 10 this week. It's just enough to move Iowa from leaning to safe and back again this week. After the Battleground poll is removed from the calculation some time next week, Iowa will likely flip back to a safe Obama state.
9/22: 4 out of 5 new polls in Iowa show Sen. Obama ahead by 7 or more. Iowa remains leaning Obama, but may switch in the next couple of weeks if the Big 10 Battleground poll is proved to be an outlier.
9/3: CNN/Time released a poll in Iowa today ashowing Sen. Obama ahead by 15 among registered voters. As a result, Sen. Obama's lead expands to over 7 points and Iowa is moved back from Barely to Leaning Obama.
8/20: Iowa is moved from leaning to barely Obama after a new University of Iowa poll shows Sen. Obama ahead by 7. As a result, his lead is cut just fractionally enough for the move. For now Iowa is moved to barely Obama.
8/11: A new Rasmussen poll was released in Iowa today showing Sen. Obama ahead by only 5. This is in contrast to their poll 4 weeks ago when he was ahead by 10. As a result of this poll his lead drops from 8 to 6 and is near (but not quite) moving from leaning Obama to barely Obama territory.

7/14: Rasmussen released a poll today in Iowa showing Sen. Obama with a 10 point lead. This is the largest lead he has had in any poll since mid-February. It appears now that Iowa may not be as competitive as originally anticipated. Iowa is leaning strongly toward Obama.
6/21: Iowa has traditionally been a very competitive state. This will likely continue as the home of the first caucuses every election year is one of the most politically active in the country. While Obama currently holds the lead, Iowa is considered a battleground for both candidates.
