Mississippi Primary

Mitt Romney may appear to have a relatively solid lead in Mississippi, but I'm inclined to think that this race is probably closer than my projection.  Rasmussen's poll from late last week showing Mitt Romney ahead by 8 is overpowering the lastest two from from PPP & ARG that show the race a tie.  That said, it may be that ARG is holding doen Rick Santorum's number as well, although it would appear that he appears to be in a solid third place and doesn't look to be threatening to win here.  Final projection: Romney +4.

Mississippi

9/11: Daily KO's released a new poll in Mississippi. Sen. McCain's lead grows to 16 in my projection. It is not likely Mississippi will be competitive and remains safely McCain's.

8/24: Rasmussen released a new poll in Mississippi today showing Sen. McCain ahead by 13. As a result, his lead expands slightly to 14 points. Mississippi remains safely McCain's.
7/30: Rasmussen released a new poll in Mississippi today showing Sen. McCain ahead by 11. This is a 5 point swing in his favor since their last poll 5 weeks ago. As a result, Sen. McCain's lead expands to just over 13 in my projection.

7/24: Daily Kos/Research 2000 (D) released a poll showing McCain ahead by 9. While Mississippi is still out of reach for Sen. Obama, Sen. McCain's lead clearly appears to be waning. 6/28: Rasmussen released a new poll in Mississippi showing McCain with a 6 point, identical to their poll last month. The state remains safe for John McCain.

6/20: Mississippi has long been a Republican stronghold, although Mississippi may be closer than most other Southern states.
